This incredible, historic brick Italianate-style home is located on Franklin Street in the Allentown Preservation District. The circa-1880s home has 12-foot ceilings with intricate decorative moldings that wrap around the edges and draw the eye. When you walk in the front door you’re greeted with a beautiful curved staircase complete with the original newel post & spindles.
Well preserved wide-plank pine floors run throughout the home. Huge and very impressive pocket doors connect every room. The home is filled with light from the large windows. It’s a very well preserved home that immediately gives you an historic and timeless vibe.
History in Allentown
The facade of the home is one that many Buffalonians have probably noticed if you’ve been in the area. The side porch that leads to the main entryway is filled with little details that add to the exterior charm. The brick driveway leads to the backyard where there’s a deck overlooking a brick and slate courtyard.
For those of you that appreciate Buffalo’s historic architecture, this is an excellent example of how lucky we are to have so many residential gems like this that are so well preserved. This neighborhood in particular is full of them. And as a major added bonus, the air around this home smells like Fat Bob’s Smokehouse, located just one block down the street.
